God’s Two Creations
The First Creation

he Bible begins with the powerful words, “In the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Then day-by- day, God
made and set into motion the physical things of His creation. At the end of
each day of His masterpiece, God saw that His work was good. In fact, when His
work was finished, He saw that all His creation was very good (Genesis 1:31).
From
that time forward, this first creation has shown the glory and power of God. “The
heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork” (Psalms 19:1).
The
so-called wise scholars who deny God and His creation are not considered wise
by the Psalmist, for he wrote, “The fool has said in his heart, “There is
no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good” (Psalms 14:1).
However,
those who believe in God and His creation, are able to see His power and glory
by the things that He made. David sang, “The heavens declare His
righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory” (Psalms 97:6). Isn’t it wonderful
that this first creation continues to be just as new and full of glory as it was
in the beginning when God made everything?
The Second Creation
Many
who study the Bible evidently fail to see that God also has a very important
second creation. After God had made man and woman, they chose to disobey Him,
and brought sin, death, and destruction upon themselves. Thus, there became the
need for a second creation. This second creation was painful to God, because it
required the death of His Son, but love motivated Him to give His Son in death,
(John 3:16). This act of sacrifice on the cross is the essence of this second
creation.
Therefore, those who obey the gospel from their hearts, become a part of God’s new creation. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Why is it so important to be a part of this second creation? Because, ONLY those who believe, repent, confess Jesus, and are baptized into Him (Galatians 3:26,27), will be saved. For without experiencing this second creation, there is no eternal life!
