Walking With The Lord
ÒThe steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the LORD upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; Yet
I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging breadÓ (Ps. 37:23-25, NKJV).
Life is a journey that all who live on this earth must
take, and as we travel through it, it is either with the devil or with the Lord. Jesus verified this truth when He spoke of the broad way or narrow
way that can be followed in this life (Mt. 7:13,14). Many will tell you that
the broad way is easy, but when the entire journey on the broad way is
considered, it is the most difficult way of all. ÒGood understanding gains
favor, But the way of the
unfaithful is hardÓ (Prov. 13:15, NKJV).
David declares in the above text that the good man
allows the Lord to order his
steps. The Lord delights in the way of His children! This is not to say that
the Lord will remove all the stones and thorns in our pathway, but rather, as
the Lord leads our way, there will be hope and peace inside our hearts. Thus,
the Lord helps us carry our
burdens. In the words of Jesus:
ÒTake My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am
gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls: For My yoke
is easy and My burden is lightÓ (Mt.
11:29, 30, NKJV).
It is true that while walking with the Lord that we
may fall, but when this happens, the
faithful ones will not be destroyed because the Lord will uphold them with His hand.
The good parent will take hold of the hand of his or
her child for protection when facing dangerous situations. This is true when
crossing dangerous streets, and in all other difficult places to walk.
As we travel our journey, it is comforting to know that the Lord will protect us through the
dangerous places in life. In fact, as long as we are faithful to Him, nothing
can harm us, and we will see His power in our daily walk of life.
ÒToday
I felt GodÕs glory - While walking in the park - I saw the rows of flowers -
Displaying their colorful art. I heard the birds in harmony - Led by a
meadowlark - And felt His mighty power - While walking through the park.Ó (bbb)
ÒSo we may boldly say: ÒThe LORD is my helper; I
will not fear. What can man do to me?Ó
(Heb. 13:6, NKJV).
Does it fully pay to walk with the Lord? David
declares that it even pays in a physical way. The same Lord who takes care of
the necessities of the birds of the air and the lilies of the fields, also
takes care of His children (Mt. 6:26,28).
